Description
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Carpet Installer to join our company. As a 1099 independent contractor, you will be responsible for installing carpets in residential homes, ensuring quality workmanship, and delivering exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate will have their own tools, transportation, and proven experience in the flooring industry, with the flexibility to set your schedule and take on jobs as they come.
Key Responsibilities:
- Measure and prepare residential spaces for carpet installation.
- Cut, trim, and fit carpets to match room dimensions, ensuring smooth and wrinkle-free finishes.
- Install carpet padding and underlayment where necessary.
- Use appropriate adhesives, staples, or tacks to secure carpets effectively.
- Remove and dispose of old carpeting or flooring if required by the client.
- Handle job site preparation, including moving and replacing furniture as needed.
- Maintain communication with homeowners to ensure their expectations are met.
- Clean and tidy up job sites after installation, leaving homes in pristine condition.
- Operate and maintain your own tools and equipment, including power stretchers, knee kickers, and carpet cutters.
- Manage time efficiently to meet project deadlines.
- Resolve any installation issues or concerns to ensure client satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a carpet installer in residential homes.
- Knowledge of various carpet types, installation techniques, and materials.
- Ability to work independently and solve problems on the job.
- Strong attention to detail and precise measurements.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Own tools and equipment required for carpet installation.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to job sites.
- Valid driver's license and liability insurance (required).
- Ability to lift heavy materials and work in physically demanding conditions.
Work Schedule:
- Flexible scheduling based on job availability.
- Ability to accept or decline projects according to your workload.
Compensation:
- Pay is project-based, with competitive rates determined by the scope of work.
- Payment will be made direct deposit weekly upon completion of each project (specific terms to be discussed).
- Potential for ongoing work based on performance and customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
- Must operate as an independent contractor (1099 status).
- Responsible for paying your own taxes, insurance, and managing your own business operations.
- Must adhere to all local building codes and regulations for carpet installation.
- Must possess or be willing to obtain necessary contractor licenses if required by local or state regulations.
- Must have or be willing to get the EPA required Lead Based Paint Renovator Certification for work done in homes built before 1979
